We love staying in historic places. The minibar is located close to the floor, so it was hard to reach. There is a tub / shower with ample hot water. As I am short and getting arthritis, I find that the tub was too high for getting in and out easily. Our room also had 3 steps down from the hall/bathroom/closet level to the bedroom level—it might be a problem for some one who is unsure of their balance in the dark. It is in a great location, walking distance to train station and lovely walks to the nearby canals/cafes. Staff speaks good English. There is an elevator.Breakfast was a bit pricy, so we have no opinion about that. There are two lounges where one can read or study in peace. the room was big and the bed was very comfortable.

We had an amazing stay at Die Port Van Cleve! The staff were all so friendly, especially Karim who was just amazing. They all really made us feel welcome. The hotel itself is such a cool historical building. The location was perfect, right in the center of everything. If you go make sure you stop in to the bar and check out the blue tiles. We stayed in a room down on the ground floor which was a bit of an adventure to get to down some narrow stairs but it was all part of the fun, and as a result we got breakfast included and it was one of the best hotel breakfasts Ive had. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam who wants an ecclectic and historic experience right in the city center.

Great location with Central Station only a 10-minute walk away and all major attractions also within walking distance. Even though it is in the middle of the city we found it quiet at night on the higher floor (we were on the 4th floor). Good security at night as you have to interact with the hotel manager to enter the hotel. Restaurant attached to the hotel is nice but way overpriced

Historic hotel. Nice lounge areas in the lobby. Great bar with wooden wainscoting floor to ceiling. Restaurant had nice wines and excellent oysters Rockefeller and filet mignon. Our final room had an excellent comfy bed, room darkening drapes and a nice modern bath with shower. A safe for valuables, coffee maker that brewed an excellent cup. Close to Anne Frank House.

Frank

Excellent service from all staff members who are quick to anticipate customers' needs . Good location close to tram services. A lot of history to the building which we didn't know about prior to our stay. Very good bar and well set out common areas. Comfortable large bed. Breakfast option is good value and breakfast staff are very friendly and professional.
